Social media has become the biggest thing ever since the invention of chocolate. Most of us are on two or more social media platforms and we scroll through, like, ‘wow’, double tap based on the world we are on. Those who say “social media is not real life” well it’s like saying “water is wet”.
‘Going online’ has become an integral part of our lives and businesses. But though its ‘media’ unlike other mediums of advertising or reaching your audience with your message the twist to social media is that it’s social’. You are supposed to interact and get social with your audience. People come on social media to fuel their passions and ‘relax’. So be their passion and a breath of fresh air.
We found some ‘breathe of fresh air’ and so we want to share our favourite with you. Get set you are about to ‘LOL’ and ‘ROTFL’.
1. You can be honest with a twist of humour
MoonPie shows us that yes while you are online to market and you do not want to play the ball, you want to hit the nail on the head and get right to the purpose of gathering. A little sauce and spice won’t hurt, It will make your audience love you more.
2. The best marketing does not feel like marketing at all – Charmin
An irrefutable proof that a toilet paper brand does not need to be a boring brand. And to add to our point that all businesses can be successful online.
3. Just be yourself, you are enough! – Totino’s Pizza
A mix of food and fantastic ‘personal’ humour. No (brand) one is really boring, so just switch to the right frequency. Totino’s pizza proved this!
4. Just for the fun of it – Taco Bell
Social media gives us another chance to have an extraordinary personality. Therefore be strategic about the personality of your brand online, one post at a time.
5. Social media is supposed to be social after all!
We can’t stop laughing, you too?
CocaCola’s twitter bio says it all: “Coca-Cola Ghana (@Cocacola_GH). Welcome to the place where Ghana’s happiness happens. Follow us and stay refreshed!”
They just get it! and their fans on social media absolutely love them, what would you do for your audience to drool over you? Revamp your voice and tone online? A recent survey by Ipsos Open Thinking Exchange (OTX) suggests that social media users are more likely to share a “funny” than “important” content (49% vs. 43%).
One of our best business lessons is to ‘learn from the great to become greater!’
What business lessons have you learnt? How are you going to implement this strategy in your marketing?
